Kurup 2021 Malayalam Film Story

Sukumara Kurup, also known as Sukumara Pillai, is a notorious criminal in the Indian state of Kerala. His story is a complex and intriguing one, involving murder, insurance fraud, and a decades-long manhunt.

Kurup was born in 1946 in the village of Cheriannad in the Chengannur region of the Alapula district. He was married to a woman named Sarasamma and had a brother-in-law named Baskara Pillai. In 1984, Kurup and his accomplices, including Baskara Pillai and his driver Ponnappan, hatched a plan to falsely claim that Kurup had died in order to collect insurance money. To do this, they assassinated a man named Chaco, who resembled Kurup, and strangled him after drugging him.

After the murder was discovered and Baskara Pillai, Ponnappan, and Shashu were arrested, Kurup managed to escape and has been on the run ever since. His escape and the subsequent manhunt have gained widespread attention in Kerala, with Kurup becoming known as an intelligent and elusive criminal.

The case of Chaco's murder is considered to be the longest in the history of the Kerala judiciary, and it has garnered significant public interest over the years. Kurup's brother-in-law Baskara Pillai and Shahu, who aided and abetted the assassination, were eventually sentenced to life imprisonment, though Shahu was later released as a witness.

Despite an extensive search by the Kerala police, Kurup has never been found.
