Kaafir is a 2019 Indian web series directed by Sonam Nair and written by Bhavani Iyer. Based on the true story of Shehnaz Parveen, the series follows Kainaaz Akhtar (Dia Mirza), a woman from Pakistan-administered Kashmir who accidentally crosses the Line of Control (LoC) into India and is imprisoned under suspicion of being a militant. Spending seven years behind bars, she gives birth to her daughter, Seher, while waiting for justice. Indian journalist Vedant Rathod (Mohit Raina) takes up her case, determined to fight against the system to reunite her with her homeland.

The series, with its eight emotionally charged episodes, explores themes of identity, prejudice, and the human cost of political conflict. Dia Mirza delivers a career-defining performance as Kainaaz, portraying her struggles with authenticity and depth.
