Mettukudi is a 1996 Tamil comedy film directed by Sundar C, starring Karthik and Nagma in lead roles. A remake of the Malayalam classic His Highness Abdullah, this film blends history, action, romance, and humor seamlessly.

The plot revolves around a legendary sword gifted by Raja Raja Chola to his commander, which has been safeguarded by generations of a family. In the present, an archaeologist schemes to steal the sword for its immense value. To execute his plan, he hires Raja (Karthik), who infiltrates the household as a long-lost family member. Everything goes smoothly until Indhu (Nagma), the landlord’s granddaughter, falls in love with Raja. As love complicates his mission, Raja faces a moral dilemma. Ultimately, he redeems himself by protecting the sword, earning the family’s trust.
